Founder & Executive Director
Twahna P. Harris is the Founder and Executive Director of The Butterfly Society, a non-profit grass roots organization. She is a public speaker, mentor, wife, and mother. Twahna has been a prominent advocate for victims and survivors of domestic violence for over 10 years and continues to work closely with the community. The organization was created due to her own personal experience with abuse. Twahna has gained recognition on both local and state levels for the ground work she does.

Recently, Twahna has been appointed to the Domestic Violence Task Force Commission for the State of Louisiana and the Women Advancement Committee for the City of Baton Rouge. She has been appointed to serve on the Task Force on the Prevention of Sexual Abuse of Children for the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services. She served as Co- Chair to Mayor Sharon Weston Broome's Transition Team for the Women Advancement Committee. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Twahna is a proud graduate of Southern University-Baton Rouge, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Family and Consumer Science with a concentration in Clothing and Textiles. She is also a graduate of Baton Rouge Community College earning an Associate Degree in Liberal Arts.
